Barbara S. Baker, born on May 3, 1943, in Hamilton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, in her beloved hometown. She was a beacon of warmth and support throughout her life, embodying the nurturing spirit that defined her quiet personality. A graduate of Taft High School, Barbara began her career at Ohio Casualty until the joys of motherhood drew her away from her professional pursuits to fully dedicate herself to raising her son.
Barbara took immense pride in her family, especially in her son, Edward, and his accomplishments, always serving as his strongest supporter. She enjoyed monthly family lunches with her siblings and her bonus granddaughter, Hazel, brought a special smile to her face when they were together.
Barbara had an unwavering love for the simple pleasures in life. She found solace in sitting outside, soaking up the sun while enjoying her newspaper. In the quiet evenings, she relished the time spent watching the news with a beer in hand, a testament to her down-to-earth nature and love for the everyday moments that build life’s tapestry.
She is survived by her devoted son, Edward (Tara Dinkel) Baker; her stepdaughter, Teri Baker; and her cherished bonus granddaughter, Hazel. Barbara also leaves behind her siblings: Tom Morscher and Nancy (Leonard) Proffitt, along with her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike and Sandy Baker, and Terry Baker, whose presence in her life offered cherished companionship.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Baker, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms. She also joins her parents, Louis and Clara Morscher, along with her in-laws Ed and Oma Baker. The family remembers her in the company of dear friends and relatives who have also passed, including Diane (Stu) Nolan, William Morscher, Regina Baker, Donna Morscher, Bill and Maxine Barker, and Nancy, Maria, and Geraldine Baker—a reminder of the deep connections she fostered throughout her life.
Her family invites friends and loved ones to honor her memory at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church in Hamilton, Ohio. Visitation will be held on September 15, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass at 9:30 AM. A graveside service will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park at 11:00 AM.
