Betty J Rinella

Betty Joan Rinella, of Columbus formerly of Hamilton, passed away on February 16, 2024, at Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Columbus at the age of 85. She was born on April 22, 1938, in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Edward William and Clara (nee Egbert) Seegers. Betty, a graduate of Hamilton High School, soon after met and married James Phillip Rinella Sr. and they were blessed with two sons: James & Thomas.

Betty worked at Fisher Autobody, then went on to work for Southwestern Ohio Steel where she worked until she retired in the 90’s. Once retired, Betty enjoyed traveling; one of her most frequented destinations was Las Vegas to try her luck in Slot Tournaments.

Betty always enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends through the years. When visiting, it was a guarantee to watch one of her many favorite Spaghetti Westerns alongside her. In her more recent years, she discovered a passion for arts and crafts, creating an array of projects from fabric to ceramics, which was her favorite to create and give to her family as gifts. Always an animal lover, she also enjoyed visits with and spoiling her grand and great-grand dogs which always brought a smile to her face and joy in her heart.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband James P. Rinella Sr.; son: Thomas P. Rinella; parents: Edward William and Clara Seegers; siblings: Ramilda Robinson, Helen Rommel, Patricia Carrol, and Edward Seegers.

Those left to carry on her legacy are her son, James (Caren Kepling) Rinella Jr., daughters-in-law: Ruth Rinella and Joann Rinella; cherished grandchildren: Casey Rinella, James Phillip Rinella III, Mathew (Rachel) Rinella, and Christine Rinella, along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the Michael J. Colligan Lodge, 20 New London Rd, Hamilton, OH 45013 on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 11:15 am.  Graveside service will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Foundation to Advance Vascular Cures.
