THOMPSON, Ernest P. “Ernie”, age 90, of Hamilton, passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. He was born on April 22, 1919, in Sparta, Ky., the son of Perry A. and Nellie (Minor) Thompson. Corporal Thompson, US Army, served his country with honor during WW II and was awarded the EAME Theatre Ribbon w/2 Bronze Stars. On January 26, 1956 he was united in marriage to Helen Holbrock. For 69 years he was employed as a mechanic and had been a valued employee at Richie, Fiehrer and retired from Wilsman Trucking on March 11, 2002. Ernie was a life member of VFW Post #1069, American Legion Post #138 and Elks Lodge #93. Survived by two sisters, Daisy Mann-Stevens and Janet Hazlett; two daughters, Marlene (James) Day and Barbara (Walter) Dees; three step-sons, Richard Milton, Steven Milton and Michael Melton; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen, granddaughter, Lisa and grandson, Scott. Visitation will be Thursday at the Colligan Funeral Home, 437 S. 3rd Street, Hamilton from Noon til time of services at 2:30 PM with Pastor Jacob S. Flannery officiating.
