Fay Wagner Vido, 78, passed away on July 22, 2013. Born in Tamaqua, PA, she was the daughter of the late Marguerite Ott Wagner and Senator Paul L. Wagner. At Pennsylvania State University, Fay joined Gamma Phi Beta, and graduated with honors in 1956, receiving a BA in English. Fay began her career in education in Rochester, NY. In 1962, Fay married Frank Vido and continued teaching English in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Fay stayed home with her four children during their formative years instilling a life-long love of reading in all. She resumed her teaching career in Hamilton, OH, beginning with Catholic Central Community School and moving to Badin High School in 1976. Mrs.Vido was a pillar of the school community who touched many lives through her enthusiasm for grammar and reading. During her tenure, Mrs. Vido served as English Department Chair, was an Ohio Writing Project Fellow, and twice received the Golden Apple Achievement Award before retiring in 1999. Deeply religious, Fay taught Sunday school in the United Presbyterian Church, was a Stephen Minister, and served as a deacon. An avid sun and beach lover, she enjoyed walking with her circle of friends as well as her husband.
Fay is survived by her devoted husband, Frank, of over fifty years; her daughter, Victoria (John) Ireland of Cincinnati; sons, Durbin (Jennifer) of Bel Air, MD, Frank (Laurie) of Plainfeld, IL, Paul (Yong-Mi) of Seoul, Korea; grandchildrenm Fay Kathryn, Henry, Frank, Francesca, Samuel, and Emily; siblings, Bruce Wagner of Seaside, NY, Lois Etshman of Rochester, PA, Durbin Wagner of Newport, PA and her dear cousin, Joan Camerini of Tamaqua and their families. Her brother, Paul Wagner preceded her in death. A private service will be held in Tamaqua, PA. Memorial contributions in Fay’s name may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
