Helen Malone

March 29, 1925 — February 15, 2016

Helen L.”Patty” Malone, 90, of Fairfield, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016. She was born March 29, 1925 to Philip and Olivia (Krahn) Irwin. She was a 1943 graduate of Hamilton High School. She was emoloyed at the Hamilton Ford plant supporting the World War II effort. She then attended the Cincinnati Art Academy cultivating her passion for art. On September 10, 1947 she married John P. Malone. Pat and Patty as they were called, enjoyed 63 years of marriage before his passing in 2010. While raising their family Patty kept art in her life by illustrating commercial designs for local newspapers, teaching ceramic classes in their home, painting oils and water colors which grace the walls in our homes. She was employed by Elder-Beerman of Hamilton, teaching knitting and crocheting from 1970-1988 retiring to help care for her aging parents. She was a selfless, caring wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She is survived by her children, Dennis (Mary) Malone, Jim (Julie) Malone and Karen (Jeff) Eyl. Grandchildren Michael (Joey) Malone, Amy (Jerry) Townsend, Major Joseph (Meagan) Malone, Bryan Malone, Chris (Maura Hennessy) Eyl, Sarah (Kyle) Schrand, Adam and Nick Eyl. Great grandchildren, Khiyah, Olivia, Mason, Maddie, Rylann, Oscar, Henry and Gus. Brother, Jim (Pat) Irwin, sister, Mary Ellen Nichting, brother-in-law, Terry Malone, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pat, brother, Tom Irwin, in- laws, Betty Malone, Dick and Ruth Malone and Jerry Nichting. Special thanks to Brookdale Fairfield, Vitas and Southwest Hospice for their compassion and care. Visitation for Patty will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 400 Niles Road, Fairfield, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Betty Malone Scholarship Fund, c/o Badin High School, 571 New London Road, Hamilton, OH 45013.
