Howard E. Bacon, lovingly known as "Hotsie", passed away on October 5, 2026, in Hamilton, Ohio. He was born on February 17, 1931, in Hamilton, Ohio.
Hotsie shared a long and loving marriage with his wife, Joan Bacon. They met while dancing and were married on October 31, 1948. Dancing remained a special part of their life together for 72 years, until Joan’s passing in 2021. They especially loved square dancing. Joan made the outfits, and Hotsie was the one calling the moves for the other dancers. It was a joy they shared for many years and one that became a lasting part of their story together.
Hotsie also enjoyed being outdoors. From golfing to horseback riding, he found happiness outside and preferred fresh air to staying indoors. Those who knew him will remember the energy and enjoyment he brought to the things he loved.
He is survived by his son, Rick Bacon. He also leaves behind his grandchildren and their families: Gerry and Tammi Bacon, Cathy and Josh Berger, and Andy and Stephanie Bacon. Howard was also blessed with great-grandchildren Logan Berger, Colin Bacon, Brady Bacon, Harper Bacon, and Blakelynn Bacon. His family was an important part of his life, and his memory will continue to live on through them.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Bacon; his son, Franklin A. “Frankie” Bacon; his sister, Juanita Brandner; his father, Edgar Bacon; and his mother, Lula Bacon, née Flannery.
Visitation will be held on October 9, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Michael J. Colligan Lodge, 20 New London Rd, Hamilton, OH 45013. A Blessing Service will follow there from 11:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. A Graveside Service will follow at St Mary’s Cemetery, 4030 Pleasant Ave, Hamilton, OH 45015.
Howard will be remembered with love for the life he shared with his family, for the joy he found in dancing, and for the time he spent doing what he loved most.
