Jack Wayne Francis, a beloved figure in both the Hamilton and Oxford communities, passed away on May 11, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on October 31, 1942, in Hamilton, Ohio, Jack led a life infused with warmth, kindness, and an unyielding zest for connection.
Jack's career spanned several decades. He dedicated many years to working at Magnode before stepping into a role that brought him immense joy and fulfillment — helping his son at the Oxford Donut Shop. For nearly 20 years, he not only supported his family but also forged countless friendships. Jack cherished every moment spent interacting with customers, always approaching them with a smile and a heartfelt conversation. His love for people and community blossomed during these years, highlighting his innate ability to make everyone feel valued and cherished.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Jack was known for his vibrant personality and his passions. He loved being around people, which made him the life of any gathering. Car shows were a particular delight for him, where he celebrated his love for classic cars. Jack found beauty and nostalgia in visiting these showcases, a testament to his appreciation for history and craftsmanship.
His service to his country during a defining period in history was another chapter of Jack's life that he held dear. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from April 1966 to April 1969, contributing 11 months and 23 days of foreign service. This experience shaped his character and instilled in him a profound sense of duty and loyalty. He was a life member of 1069 Fairfield VFW.
Jack was a devoted family man. He is survived by his son, Joshua (Clara Deaton) Francis, and his former wife and friend, Janice Burige Francis. Jack's legacy also lives on through his grandchildren: Esther Louise, Julius Jack, Guen, and Oodie, who brought him immeasurable joy. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his siblings: Carol Ann (Andy) Andrews, Charles "Bill" (Alice) Francis, Janice E. (Dean Calloway) Jordan, and Steven Lee Francis and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Emerson Francis and Helen Louise Laney Francis, as well as his siblings Nancy Hurd, Elizabeth Francis, and sister-in-law Alice Francis. Their memories remain woven into the tapestry of Jack's life, as he carried their love in his heart.
The community will gather to honor Jack at visitation on May 16, 2025, at Michael J. Colligan Lodge, 20 Hamilton New London Road, Hamilton, 45013, from 4 PM to 7 PM. A graveside service will be on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton, beginning at 10 AM. Family and friends will meet at the gate at 9:50 and process to the graveside where Military will be in attendance to perform Honors.
Jack Wayne Francis will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the many lives he touched will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. His stories will continue to be told, reminding us all of the love, laughter, and connections that enrich our lives.
