Joseph S. Kovats, 83, of Hamilton passed away at Westover on December 8, 2012. Joe was born in Hamilton on October 5, 1929 to the late Joseph and Anna (nee Hofsteder) Kovats. Pvt. Kovats served our country with Honor in the US Army from 1951 to 1953. On November 3, 1951, he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Ann Murphy. Joe was a very talented man. He could do almost anything from working in research and development to construction. He was the owner of Kovats and Sons Construction Company. He also worked for Bendix, Magnavox, KDI and Schroeder Manor. Joe had a big heart and would do anything for anyone. He was a member of the Sterling Silvers Group and a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marilyn Kovats; 4 children, Sandra (John) Hawkins, Eric (Stephanie), Stephen J., and Kenneth (Carla) Kovats; son-in-law Jeff Curtis; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family members, friends and his special dog “Heidi” . Preceded in death by daughter, Anne Curtis; grandson, Jason Kovats and 5 sisters. Prayer service will be 9:45 AM Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Colligan Funeral Home followed by Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 171 Washington St. in Hamilton. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 5 – 7 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Westover Nursing Home for their extraordinary care over the past few years. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Westover Nursing Home, 855 Stahlheber Rd, Hamilton 45013 or St. Joseph Catholic Church, 171 Washington St., Hamilton 45011.
