Joseph Paproski

October 25, 1925 — March 27, 2015

Joseph B. Paproski, 89, a longtime resident of Reily Township, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015. He was born in Hamilton on October 25, 1925, the son of Joseph B. and Stella (Derenski) Paproski. Joe had attended St. Joseph Grade School and was a 1943 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School. Prior to joining the U S Army in 1946, Joe had worked on his family’s farm in Reily Township. Pvt. Paproski, a qualified parachutist, served His country during WW II as a member of the 11th Airborne Division and received an honorable discharge in 1947. In 1953, he enrolled in the National Guard and served until 1967. On June 25, 1960, he was united in marriage to Marian Ruhl and to this union seven children were born. After 34 years of service, Joe retired from Conrail in 1987. He was a devoted member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church for over 50 years, a proud member of the Polish National Alliance, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 968, V F W Chuck Cain Post # 7670 and the American Legion Post # 138. An avid gardner, devoted father and proud grandpa, Joe is survived by his children, Hank Paproski, Francine (Jeff) Pence, Janet Amyx, Ruth (Jeff) Michael, Ted Paproski and Judy (Chris) Sizemore; grandchildren, Chris (Amy), Steven (Shana), Sarah (James Payne), Jonathan, Taylor, Mallory, Brayden, Stephanie, Anna, Alex (Meghan), Jillian, Zach, Tyler, Jacob, Jarrad (Brittany) and Allie; great grandchildren; brother, Theodore “Teeter” Paproski; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marian Paproski; son, Joe Paproski and son-in-law, Gerald Amyx and sister, Gertrude. Friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Queen of Peace Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Colligan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Queen of Peace Church or Badin High School.
