Lucy M. Gervasio died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 at Hospice of Hamilton. She was born on Jan. 24, 1920 in Bisaccia-Avellino-Italy. She was the only child of Pietro & Angela Cela Gervasio. On Dec. 8, 1928 Lucy & her mother came to Hamilton to be reunited with her father who had been living in Hamilton since 1920. Lucy attended St. Veronica School and graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1938. She was proud of her Italian Heriage but was more proud of her U.S. Citizenship Paper. She was united in marriage on Nov. 20, 1949 to Frank P. DeNittis at St. Veronica Church. Lucy was a life time member of St. Veronica -St. Julie Billiart Church and of the Hamilton Chapter #28 of the Women of the Moose where she held chairs as Sr. Regent. She was also a member of Acadamy of Friendship and College of Regents Degrees, Floras Amo Garden Club, A.A.R.P. and St. Julie Altar Rosary Society. She was preceeded in death by her parents Pietro & Angela Cela Gervasio, her husband Frank P., who died on March 4, 1992 and a dear cousin Danny Gervasio. Though Lucy had no children of her own she was blessed with 36 God Children. She is survived by Cousins: Lorraine, Dana Jo, Michael, Judy & Chad Gervasio of AZ; Anthony, Kathy, Lori, Daniel, Andrew Gervasio of OK; Joseph L. Gervasio of WI and Joseph A., Peter, Stephen, and Andrew Gervasio of PA and 29 Cousins who reside in Italy. Lucy wants to thank the following friends for their helping hands in time of need: Tony & Lillian Lo Buono, Pierino Bokeno, James & Barbara Gibson, John & Gwen De Long, Wanda Reed, Jack & Donna Weisenburger, Ron & Florence Lains, Judy Siefer, David & Darrith Bishop, and Dr. Harry M. Davin & Dr. Paula Weiseburger. Special thanks to Jackie & Steve Bishop and their daughters Amanda, Brittany and Olivia (Lucy’s little Angels) with whom she resided for the last four years. Family and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial Friday, Sept. 25, 9:30 AM at St. Julie Billiart, 224 Dayton St. Hamilton. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM at Colligan Funeral Home, 437 S. 3rd Street, Hamilton.
