Marilyn Kovats

Marilyn Ann Kovats, age 81, of Hamilton, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Marilyn was born in Hamilton, on May 8, 1932, the daughter of Thomas and Ruth (Lyons) Murphy. She was a1950 graduate of Notre Dame High School and graduated from the Hamilton School of Practical Nursing in 1971. On November 4, 1951, she was united in marriage to Joseph S. Kovats. Marilyn was a devoted mother to her five children and six foster children. She had been a valued employee of Providence Hospital and after her retirement, she became a hospice volunteer. A long time member of St. Joseph Church, she co-founded and served sixteen years as president of the Sterling Silver Group. Survived by her children; daughter, Sandra (John) Hawkins; three sons, Eric (Stephanie), Stephen J. and Kenneth (Carla) Kovats; son-in-law, Jeff Curtis; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, Joe Kovats; daughter, Anne Kovats Curtis; grandson, Jason Kovats; sister, Rosemary Sutton and three brothers, Mark, Neil and Dan Murphy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Church, 171 Washington Street, Hamilton, OH 45011, St. Vincent de Paul Society or charity of donor’s choice. Prayer service will be 10:15 AM Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Colligan Funeral Home, 437 S 3rd Street, Hamilton. Followed by Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will be Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
