Mollie Fields

d. November 5, 2010

Mollie Fields, 84 years young, died on Friday, November 5th, 2010 at Hospice of Hamilton. Mollie was born on December 13, 1925 in Manchester, Kentucky to Boyd and Della (Bowling) Scalf. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sam Fields, parents Boyd and Della Scalf and sisters, Dema and Mattie Scalf. She is survived by her children, Greg Fields, Dave (Melody) Fields and Kim (Mark) Evans; grandchildren, Kyle and Tory Fields and Morgan, Meredyth and Sam Evans; brother, Edward Scalf; sisters-in-law, Anne Sipe and Hilda Callahan and many nieces and nephews. Mollie graduated from Hamilton High School in 1943 and was one of the original “Rosie the Riveters” during World War II. Mollie and Sam Fields married on October 12, 1944. She worked for Champion Papers for over 30 years until she retired. Mollie was a straightforward, honest and caring person who devoted her life to family and friends. She loved to travel, discuss politics and always rooted for the underdog. Her cooking was legendary and she cooked a full feast the last week of her life. Mollie was simply the best mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister and friend that anyone could have. Mollie loved the song, ” I Hope You Dance”, because it represented her feelings about life. Her favorite verse was: I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens, promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance and when you get the choice to sit it out or dance…I hope you dance. At Mollie’s wish, a private family service and memorial will be held at a alter date. Online condolences to www.colliganfuneralhome.com
