Richard Tendam Sr.

Richard “Bud” Tendam Sr., age 91, of Hamilton, passed away, Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Golden Years Nursing Center. He was born August 28, 1919 in Hamilton, the son of Charles and Anna Belle Berry Tendam and attended the Hamilton public schools. On January 13, 1961, he married Frances Urban and she preceded him in death on December 16, 2003. Bud was baptized and was a member of the Seven Mile United Methodist Church. He was a great mathematician and expert machinist working in many factories in Hamilton and retired from Mosler Safe Co. in 1984. He was quite an artist and loved drawing cartoons for his family and shop newspapers. Bud was very proud of his service as a young man in the Civilian Concservation Corps (CCC) in Oregon and had many tales of his experiences. He was a great father and set a wonderful example for his family. He enjoyed serving as a Boy Scout Leader and Little League Coach. Bud’s interests were woodworking, yard work, genealogy, coin collecting, horses and dogs, especially his dog, Betsy, who helped him through the loneliness of his last years. Being very proud of his German heritage, he had many stories to tell his family of growing up in the 1920’s. He loved family get-togethers and his family loved him dearly. They will miss his laughter, stories and jokes and will always remember him with a smile. He leaves his son, Richard (Candy) Tendam; daughter, Linda (Wayne) Estep; step-son, Larry (Janet) Augspurger; fourteen grandchildren, Pat, Jeff, Lynette, Kenneth, Adam, Rocky, Bomber, May, Tracie, Carrie, Bridget, Steve, Todd and Bobby and twenty-one great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Cathy Tendam Leichman and siblings, George, James, Isabelle (Roemer) Gerald and Berry. Visitation will be at the Colligan Funeral Home, 437 South Third Street, Hamilton on Saturday, October 23, from 10:a.m. to 11:00 a.m with funeral services immediately following.
