GEYER, Robert F., went to be with his Lord and Savior April 2, 2009. Born July 7,1919, in Hamilton, son of Philip F. Geyer Jr. and Luella C. (Scheidt) Geyer. Educated in Hamilton schools, graduating Hamilton High in 1936. Active in baseball, softball, basketball, fishing, swimming and horseback riding. Assisted father in Geyer’s Grocery 1936-1941.WW II Veteran, enlisting March 31,1941, U S Signal Corps.. En route to Philippine Islands, December 7,1941 in close proximity to Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. T/Sgt. Geyer, honorably discharged December 5,1945. Prisoner of War Camp. Enrolled in CMTC, Ft. Benjamin, Harrison, Indiana for five months. WW II medals include American Defense Service Ribbon , American Theatre, WW II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Employed by Ford Motor Company for ten months. Employed by Fisher Body Division, Hamilton Plant, 1946-1981, retiring due to ill health. Member of Fairfield Wesleyan Church, American Legion Post # 138, AARP, American Bible Society and American Philatelic Society, Washington DC. Attended Grace United Methodist Church, served Sunday School Teacher, organized United Methodist Men, obtained a speaker’s certificate from United Methodist Denomination. Obtained a Lay Pastor’s License from Wesleyan Denomination 1984-2000, giving 6-7 sermons weekly. Certificate from Evangelic Teacher Training Assoc., Chigago, Ill. At Fairfield Wesleyan Church served as Chief Usher, Licensed Lay Preacher, Sunday School Teacher, Evangelist, assisted in giving worship services in various churches. In 1979 he had the opportunity to preach in a nursing home. Here he found where God was leading him. Soon he was preaching at six care centers and nursing homes, doing funeral services, giving communion, visiting people at hospitals and writing thousands of sermons. His greatest joy was bringing the Word of God to others followed by his love of country and family. Met Georgianna Whitehill in 1960 and were married in Norwood Wesleyan Church. She was a warm, soft spoken, caring person who helped him in his evangelistic work. After five years of severe illness, on August 13,1998 at 10:55 AM God called Georgianna home to be with Him. God always know best. In 1977 major cancer surgery and after 8 1/2 hour operation and weeks was sent home for ten days, then probably back to the hospital to die. It was at home he met Jesus who was to become his Lord and Savior forever. Had total of 67 major operations and the Lord was with him in each one. His goal was to reach out to lost souls, telling them about the One who wants, gives them that promise of ever-lasting life. Very close to his son, Steve Geyer, and after the death of his beloved wife, Steve became his care-giver. He and his son were as one until Steve’s untimely death. Survived by daughter, Nancy D. Thompson (James) , Bloomdale, Ohio; brother , Stanley K. Geyer, Fort Myers, Fl.; two grandsons; two granddaughters; four great grandsons; five great granddaughters; other loving relatives, neighbors and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mildred Geyer (in infancy); brother Donald P. Geyer and beloved wife and son, Georgianna and Steven. Memorials may be directed to The New Beginning Tabernacle, 2551 Ramona Drive, Fairfield, Ohio 45014 or to the Fairfield Wesleyan Church, 4685 Anthony Wayne Avenue, Fairfield, Ohio 45014. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 AM til time of services at 1:00 PM at the Colligan Funeral Home, 437 S. Third Street, Hamilton. Burial in Rose Hill Burial Park.
