Roger F. Franz, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away on September 30, 2026, at the age of 81. He was born on October 6, 1944, in Middletown, Ohio.
Roger graduated from Middletown High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1965 until 1966. After the passing of his father, he returned home to help run the family business. He later built a long and dedicated career with Armco/AK Steel, where he worked for 30 years before retiring.
Roger never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including playing games and cards, working on vehicles, and tinkering with just about anything. Friends and family will remember his warm personality, strong work ethic, and the sense of comfort he brought to those around him. His kindness and easygoing nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate to know him.
Roger is survived by his wife, Che Wai “Mandy” Franz. He is also survived by his daughter, Michele Whitehill and her husband Chris; his son, Scott Franz and his wife Mequel; and his step-son, Adam Lee and his wife Kelly Ho. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Sara Gray, Christopher Whitehill, Jr, and Joshua Whitehill and his wife Morgan, Adeline Franz, Mathias Franz, Cruz Lee, Cynthia Lee, as well as his great-grandchildren, Noah Gray and Claire Whitehill. He is also survived by his brother, Lowell Franz, and his sister-in-law, Mary K. Franz, a niece, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Franz; his mother, Sue Tolliver Franz; and his brother, Bruce Franz.
A graveside service will be held on October 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Butler County Memorial Park, 4570 Trenton Oxford Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45011. Family and friends will meet at Butler County Memorial Park.
Memorials are requested to Hospice of Cincinnati.
Roger will be remembered with love for his warm spirit, his hardworking life, and the way he made people feel at home. His memory will remain with all who knew him.
