Sandford Cohen

COHEN, Sandford H. “Sandy”, age 74, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010, in Dayton, Ohio. He was born in Hamilton on March 10, 1936, the son of Joseph and Hilda (Wasserman) Cohen. Sandy had attended the University of Cincinnati and had been a member of the National Guard. In September of 1967, he was united in marriage to Carolyn A. Garner. Mr. Cohen founded I.E.S. Security and helped to build his wife’s company, C. Cohen & Co.. Sandy served on the committee for the Dayton Hamvention, eventually becoming the Grand Chairman. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; son Dave (Karen) Davis and their daughter, Jessica Gilbert; brothers, Mark (Lois) Cohen and Elliott (Margaret) Fishman; nephew, Ben (Linda) Cohen and their twin daughters, Sophia and Shoshana; mother in law, Dorothy Garner; sister in law, Barbara Garrett and nephew, Jason (Vicki) Garrett. Preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at the Colligan Funeral Home, Hamilton, with Rabbi Eric Slaton officiating. Burial in Beth Israel Cemetery.
